DALLAS MAVERICKS CAPS GUIDE:
The Dallas Mavericks were inducted into the NBA in 1980. The name was chosen based on a popular western series. The Mavericks won their only NBA Championship in 2011 with Dirk Nowitzki as the star of the team. They play their home games at the American Airlines Center in Dalls in front of 19,200 spectators. While the Mavs saw some success in the beginning, they were chronically unsuccessful in the 90s. Some spectacular players played in Dallas during that time: Detlef Schrempf and Jason Kidd were drafted by the Mavericks and Steve Nash played alongside Dirk Nowitzki for a few years. With the purchase of the team by billionaire Mark Cuban, the franchise's great rise began. In 2006 the Mavericks lost in the NBA final against the Miami Heat, but in 2011 the team was able to take revenge and defeat the Miami Heat 4-2. With an aging Dirk Nowitzki, however, there was not much to gain afterwards and so the Mavericks with players from the German Maxi Kleber and the stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis are in the process of rebuilding.

In 2012 the logo was adapted and since then has shown a silver shield with a blue basketball with a white horse's head in it and the city name above it.
