The Phoenix Suns were founded in 1968. They play in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. They have played their home games at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix since 1992 in front of up to 18,055 spectators. The name is due to the sun that always shines in Arizona. Back in 1976, the Suns qualified for the NBA Finals, but lost to the Boston Celtics. In the mid-80s, the Suns were involved in a drug scandal and changed hands as a result. With the arrival of Kevin Johnson and especially Charles Barkley in 1992, things finally started to look up athletically. Barkley was voted MVP for his performance and at the end of the season his Phoenix Suns were in the finals against the Chicago Bulls. With 2:4 the Suns lost to the Bulls around Michael Jordan and didn't make it that far in the following years. In 1996, they drafted Steve Nash and also signed Jason Kidd, but despite the notable additions, success was not forthcoming. With the signing of head coach Mike D'Antoni, the drafts of players Shawn Marion and Amar'e Stoudemire, and the return of Nash in 2004, a new style of play was implemented. The Suns' fast-paced offensive game made D'Antoni the Coach of the Year and Nash the MVP. The team still failed to make the NBA Finals, however, and the team slowly declined starting in 2010. It wasn't until 2015 that the NBA Draft brought in Devin Booker, a new franchise player who should make the Suns successful again in the future.
